Founder, Director and Lead Accredited Practising Dietitian
Deb Blakley is the Founder, Director and Lead Accredited Practising Dietitian of Kids Dig Food®.
Deb followed her heart to create Kids Dig Food® in 2013 after many years as a Community Dietitian, Community Nutritionist and hospital-based clinical dietitian. She has led community-based initiatives as diverse as breastfeeding promotion, feeding practices in early childhood education settings and food security over the span of her career. In these roles she saw first-hand the difference that JOY makes to feeding and eating.
Deb is particularly passionate about supporting grown-ups (parents, carers and educators – indeed, anyone involved in the care of children) to positively & joyfully connect or reconnect with food & eating and share this with the children they care for.
Deb creates and delivers workshops, education and training for early childhood settings, schools, organisations and individuals both online and in-person. Deb is particularly skilled at working with children and families who are struggling with fussy eaters; problem feeders; neurodivergent children (Autism, ADHDers, SPD and more); and children with weight concern.
Deb is passionate about growing a team of Dietitians who believe that ALL bodies are amazing, and who apply a weight-neutral approach in supporting kids to grow into the bodies that are right for them. The Kids Dig Food approach to Dietetics and Nutrition care is grounded in Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility in Feeding & Eating Competence models and Responsive Feeding as outlined by Rowell, Wong, Cormack and Moreland et al.
Deb and her team are committed to providing individualized and family-centred care that is neuro-diversity affirming and trauma-informed. The team has a culture of lifelong learning and regularly undertake professional development in these and other areas to continually improve the care to client families.
Let Deb and the Kids Dig Food team help you put the joy back into feeding your family today.
